Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama Encouraging Schools Statewide to Apply for the Be Healthy School Grant Program
Birmingham, AL - In our ongoing commitment to help prevent childhood obesity, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama is proud to continue its Be Healthy School Grant Program. For the 2024 -2025 school year, Blue Cross will make available $300,000 and award grants up to $10,000 to 30 schools across the state that enroll students in grades K through 12. Since 2012, Blue Cross has awarded more than $3 million in 320 Be Healthy School Grants statewide impacting over 152,700 students.
“We are proud to make this grant opportunity available for schools across the state,” said Tim King, Community Relations Manager, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. “This program provides schools additional funding for the resources they need to help teach their students healthy lifestyle habits that will hopefully last a lifetime.”
The grants are for the implementation of school-based health and wellness programs that emphasize increased exercise and nutrition education involvement during the school year. Applications can now be completed on the Blue Cross website at community.bcbsal.org/what-we-do/be-healthy-school-grants. The deadline to apply is Friday, July 19, 2024. Each selected school will receive a grant of up to $10,000, and a Blue Cross Be Healthy School banner.
