Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama and March of Dimes’ to Celebrate Alabama's First Mom and Baby Mobile Health Center

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama and March of Dimes will celebrate the launch of Alabama’s first Mom and Baby Mobile Health Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Hayneville.
Funded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama’s The Caring Foundation, the mobile health center will bring maternal and infant health services directly to rural Alabama communities, helping address gaps in access to care. Services will include support, education and healthcare for moms and moms-to-be, including preconception, pregnancy, postpartum and newborn interventions, as well as primary, wellness and preventive care.
“We are excited to see the launch of this new mobile health center and the positive impact it will have on moms and babies across Alabama,” said Sophie Martin, Director, Corporate Communications and Community Relations, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. “Improving maternal and infant health outcomes across our state is a top priority. We care about giving moms access to the care they need at all stages of their pregnancy, and our strong partnership with March of Dimes will help bring quality healthcare and important resources directly to women and families in rural communities.”
The mobile health center is especially important in Alabama, where March of Dimes reports 58% of counties have low or no access to maternity care, 37.3% have no obstetric clinician and 7,300 babies are living in maternity care deserts.
